The Way of Effortless Mindfulness
Level Two Residential Retreat
with Loch Kelly
Thursday-Sunday April 16-19, 2020
Garrison Institute, Route 9D at Glenclyffe, Garrison, NY 10524 United States
“In my many years of knowing and working with Loch Kelly I feel that he is one of the clearest expressions of authentic awakened freedom and love that I know.” – Adyashanti, author of True Meditation
Tibetan Buddhist teacher Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche, said: “There are two types of mindfulness: deliberate and effortless.” Deliberate mindfulness includes one-pointed focus and nonjudgmentally observing the changing contents of our mind and body. The second approach is called effortless mindfulness, not because no initial effort is made, but because of the discovery of an awareness that is already awake and able to focus effortlessly. Rather than concentrating to calm and focus your mind, we will learn to intentionally shift into awake awareness, which is already calm, intelligent, and able to effortlessly focus. This is an important method to learn for your journey of awakening.
In this weekend retreat, we will first learn how to unhook awareness from thinking and have it turn around to be aware from awake awareness. Then, we will begin to welcome and liberate our inner shadow parts from effortless heart mindfulness. Effortless mindfulness helps us shift from a self-centered identity to an empty, yet open-hearted, way of seeing and being. By practicing effortless mindfulness, you discover a deep sense of well-being, creativity, and unconditional love.INFO & REGISTER HERE
LEVEL TWO is for those who have taken an online course, attended a daylong workshop or will have read one of Loch’s books before the weekend. This is not to exclude anyone, but so we all have the initial practices and vocabulary to be able to dive deeply into the support of realization, abiding, expression and unfolding.
