Tibetan Buddhist teacher Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche said: “There are two types of mindfulness: deliberate and effortless.” Deliberate mindfulness includes one-pointed focus and nonjudgmentally observing the changing contents of our mind and body. The second approach, effortless mindfulness, shifts from focusing on the contents to discovering the context, an awareness that is already awake and able to focus effortlessly.
We can begin with deliberate mindfulness as a good foundation, or start with effortless mindfulness. In this evening, we will learn how to unhook awareness from thinking and have it turn around to be aware from awake awareness. Rather than concentrating to calm and focus your mind, we will learn to intentionally shift into awake awareness, which is already calm, intelligent, and able to effortlessly focus. This is an important method to learn for your journey of awakening. Effortless mindfulness helps us shift from a self-centered identity to an empty, yet embodied, open-hearted, way of being.
Loch will be available to sign his new book after the meditation evening.REGISTER HERE
